Pre-assembly works set to kick off for Arcadis Ost at Rønne Havn

Global Wind Service (GWS) will shortly kick off works at Rønne Havn on the Danish Island Bornholm in The Baltic Sea. Vestas awarded GWS with pre-assembly labor support for Arcadis Ost. This follows projects like Seagreen, Moray East, and Triton Knoll.

The 257MW offshore wind farm located Northeast of the German Island Rügen will consist of 27 x V174-9.5MW turbines. A part of which will be pre-assembled by specialist GWS pre-assembly technicians, preparing them for installation in The Baltic Sea. The turbines will be installed using a new floating installation method, an industry first, due to challenging soil conditions and up to 45m water depths.

Once commissioned the turbines will create green energy to power around 290,000 households in Germany.

“We have worked with Vestas Offshore, previously through MHI Vestas Offshore Wind, on several pre-assembly projects around Europe, but also in Denmark where we have had activities in Esbjerg for several years. We are delighted to be back in Denmark for this pioneering project continuing our good collaboration with Vestas” said Thomas Bak Mathiasen, Offshore & Service Sales Director.
