Earlier this week the near complete Brave Tern was transported from its dry dock at the Lamprell Shipyard in Dubai to its launch site in preparation for the big day. The jack-up vessel was designed by Gusto MCS and customised by Fred. Olsen Windcarrier based on their extensive knowledge gained from market experience. The vessel is self-elevating and self-propelled with large open deck space to facilitate various deck layouts suitable for individual operations. The vessel has an 800 tonne “wrap around the leg” offshore-rated crane also designed by Gusto MSC as well as robust, continuous type jacking systems. In addition, the vessel has a DP2-class type dynamic positioning system and is fitted with a Voith Schneider propulsion system enabling superior and secure positioning. The installation vessel has high-quality accommodations for up to 80 persons in 56 cabins, as well as a heli-deck to facilitate transfers during wind farm installations. Technical management of the fleet is executed by Fred. Olsen Marine Services with over 30 years of experience in the operating and crewing of our offshore rigs, cruise vessels and FPSO’s. The marine operations will be executed by Fred. Olsen Windcarrier. This combination enables a flawless operation meeting the highest HSEQ-standards.
