Fully equipped with gear and experience a team of Global Wind Service UK LTD (GWS) technicians is currently working on the installation phase of Rampion Offshore Wind Farm, the first offshore wind farm on the south coast of England. The full scope of work for GWS includes the installation, and mechanical and electrical completion of a proportion of the turbines. Once completed, the wind farm will consist of 116 V112.3.45 MW wind turbines. A proven 3MW Vestas platform, which the GWS technicians have significant experience with, most recently the Nobelwind offshore wind farm.
“We are pleased to continue developing our partnership with MHI Vestas on yet another exciting project. Being awarded the Rampion project contributes to an accelerated learning curve on this project as we have been able to utilise our technicians, competencies and insight from Nobelwind,” said CCO Michael Høj Olsen, GWS.
“With a workforce of around 100 UK based technicians, we are also pleased to be able to support the Rampion project with local content,” said Morten Holm, UK Area Manager, GWS.
The 400MW project being built by E.ON, the UK Green Investment Bank plc and Canadian energy company Enbridge, will, when complete provide enough electricity to supply the equivalent of around 347,000 homes a year. Rampion is due to be completed and fully operational in 2018.
