Making a career in Global Wind Service - from administrative all-rounder to Head of Global People Support

Meet Monika Lübker from our company Headquarters in Denmark and read about her career path in Global Wind Service.

Monika started her career at Global Wind Service (GWS) in 2010, only two years after the company was established. When Monika joined Global Wind Service it was still a relatively small entrepreneur company with a rather small workforce. In the beginning she worked in an administrative role covering tasks within finance and project coordination. After a short period of time, she was responsible for salary processing for all our employees in DK and UK and for invoicing clients.

Later, she stepped into the role as HR Officer and became an important partner in the establishment of GWS’ HR Department and its continuous developing.

Today Monika works as Head of Global People Support (GPS) as an integrated part of our Human Resources Department. The GPS team cover a wide range of HR related tasks such as compliance, administration, recruitment, HR IT systems. Adding to this, they are the “go-to” people for questions about employment terms and all the above-mentioned topics.

What do you like about your job?

“No day is the same – which is what I love about my role. Being able to cover so many different aspects across the departments and work with tasks with a global perspective opens for a dynamic day and collaboration with many colleagues both within our office team, technicians in the field and many of the candidates who would like to become a part of Global Wind Service.”

What has it been like, working for GWS for so many years?

“I still remember the day in August 2010 when I entered GWS office for the first time. There were 3 colleagues welcoming me as our two founders Michael and Lars were out travelling. And that was our entire DK office team back then. A lot has happened since – both with GWS and my positions changing as the company expanded and developed. It has been a great journey. To be able to experience the growth of GWS and the wind industry in general, and to be able to witness so many internal changes is very unique.”

Michael, how would you describe Monika and her career in GWS?

“Monika has always been quite the GWS all-rounder – meant in the most positive way. She has been part of our journey since the early days and developed a lot over the years. Her commitment and dedication is absolutely exceptional. She has a fantastic can-do attitude no matter what challenges she is faced with. As a company its fantastic to be able to develop together with our employees and see how they progress and grow.” Michael Nielsen, Director USA and co-founder of Global Wind Service

For you, what makes GWS a good place to work?

“When someone asks me about my years at GWS, I have a very positive story to tell. A story full of energy, development, dynamic approaches and the “GWS way” – we help and support each other and develop together. That is what I think is so great about working at Global Wind Service.”

Monika is originally from Poland but moved to Denmark in 1992. She lives together with her husband, two teenage boys, a cat, and a dog – so it is a house full of life. She is always in motion and has something going on whether it is a small or large project. Adding to this, she is now learning how to play the piano.
