Commenting on the partnership, CCO at Global Wind Service Lars Petersen said:

Vineyard Wind 1 will consist of 62 of the new GE Haliade X turbines once complete. It is located 15 miles (24 KM) off the coast of Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts. The wind farm will reduce carbon emissions with 1.6 million tons a year and produce 800 megawatt of green electricity powering more than 400,000 homes and businesses.

"In 2017, we opened our U.S. office and initially focused on onshore installation and re-power projects. However, I am delighted to see that offshore wind projects are now also taking off. The emergence of offshore wind played a significant role in our decision to establish a permanent presence in the U.S.

I am proud to say that GWS will continue our successful track record for offshore wind installation in the U.S., having already installed Block Island and Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind, pilot project," Lars explained.
