Late last year Nordex Group awarded Global Wind Service (GWS) and BMS Heavy Cranes with the installation of South Kyle and Oweninny 2 wind farms in Scotland and Ireland, respectively, with GWS taking the Crane & Installation lead on Oweninny 2.
South Kyle:
With its 50 x Delta4000 N133/4.8 turbines South Kyle is the largest project in the UK for Nordex Group in 2022. The wind farm is located 5km east of Dalmellington town. Installation works recently began on site and is scheduled to run until the fall. Once in operation the 240MW wind farm will power around 170,000 Scottish homes, reducing CO2 emissions with up to 300,000t per year.
Oweninny 2:
Located in North Mayo in the Northwestern part of Ireland Oweninny phase 2 will comprise of
31 x Nordex N117 TS120 (Delta3000) turbines. Phase 1 of the wind farm consists of 29 turbines with a capacity of 89MW. When phase 2 is complete the two phases will generate a combined output of 172MW. Oweninny 2 is the largest Nordex Group project in Ireland in 2022.
Installation works began on site not long ago and is scheduled to run throughout the rest of the year.
“I am very happy that Nordex Group has chosen us as their partner for their two largest 2022 projects in Ireland and Scotland. Over the years, we have built a strong relation and partnership with Nordex Group. We have proudly been partnering for projects like Pomerania and Wieringermeer and the first Delta4000 installations in Scotland and the Netherlands at Crossdykes and Ospeldijk.” Said Wilko Baring, Head of Onshore Sales.
