GWO Instructor

Position Summary:

  • ◆ Conducting practical and theoretical GWO classes
  • Assessment of GWO course participants
  • ◆ Assist with developing and implementing training materials

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Leads all stakeholders including GWS managers, technicians, vendors and subcontractors to have a “safety first” project culture
  • Conducting practical and theoretical classes according to GWO rules for the following modules:
    • GWO Working at Height (and refreshers)
    • GWO Fire Awareness (and refreshers)
    • GWO First Aid (and refreshers)
    • GWO Manual Handling (and refreshers)
    • GWO Working and Heights and Manual Handling combined
    • GWO Blade Repair (optional)
  • Assessment of GWO course participants; Grades participants by use of predetermined objective criteria.

  • Processes training records and maintains files and databases.
  • Performs routine maintenance, calibration and repair of equipment and other instructional aids.
  • Help in developing and implementing training materials.
  • Preparation of facility for new training accreditations – mobile GWO or OEM specific.
  • Maintenance, inspection, and servicing of the training equipment.
  • Keeping the books for ordered equipment and order equipment which run out during the trainings for all delivered courses.
  • Keeping good relations with local suppliers of equipment
  • Reaching out to suppliers around the world if needed and create good relations with them.
  • Follows the GWO guidelines and updates on GWO standards at GWO website.

  • Ensures corporate policies are properly administered and new policies are adequately documented and communicated across the Company.
  • Partners with 
  • Develops effective means of communication with associates at all levels across the business to build a relationship of trust and respect
  • Special projects, as assigned.
  • Flexibility to travel up to 50%
  • Flexibility to work overtime hours on weekly basis
  • All other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications, Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Pass the pre-employment background check and drug test
  • At least eight years of progressive technical training work experience, including training GWO classes
  • At least three years of direct people management experience
  • GWO and/or OSHA training certification highly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of all facets of facilitating training for GWO classes
  • Strong PC skills, with proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel & Project
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with all levels of internal and external personnel.
  • Detail oriented, with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and research skills.
  • Able to effectively work in a fast-paced environment and display a sense of urgency.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Function with little supervision. Be an effective team player.
  • High energy, self-motivated, service-oriented and ethical with a high degree of integrity

Working Conditions and Environment

  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must be able to climb 450 feet or higher.
  • Must be able to pass medical fit for duty evaluation
  • This position operates computers and other office productivity machines (e.g., fax machine, copier, printer, etc.) on a regular basis. This position must be able to inspect and observe information on a computer screen at least 80% of the time.
  • This position requires prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer, and ability to train on physically demanding construction and climbing tasks.
  • This position requires constant communication and exchange of information with the Company’s employees, clients, vendors and/or contractors.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be a citizen of this country or possess a valid work permit.
