Site Manager - Onshore

We are looking for an experienced Site Manager to join GWS Site Management Team and lead one of our Onshore Installation projects in Europe. Perfect candidate for this role has significant experience, practical and theoretical knowledge in field of installation of wind turbines of one of the biggest wind manufacturers nowadays.

(S)he is a composed and mature leader, who can provide excellent level of safety & quality of work on his/her site even in demanding work environment with many stakeholders involved into.


The Site Manager acts as the overall responsible on a Global Wind Service (GWS) site, and will form the link between GWS management, Project team (PM), customer and the site organization as the primary GWS representative on site.

(S)he must act as a role model in all HSEQ matters, and through the position, set an example of how to live the core values of GWS, as well as uphold all the policies, procedures, national laws and regulations.

The site manager must support the team leads on site, by providing them with delegation of tasks, direction and support in their personal development and in the delivery of the highest level of safety and quality of work.

Requirements

Scope of responsibilities:


Administration

  • Primary contact hub on site, incl. communication to customer site team
  • Reporting of safety issues
  • Preparing documentation for work to carried out as well as documentation required by customer on site and other GWS departments
  • Timely reporting to the Project Manager on progress, challenges, non-conformities and helping to initiate and implement corrective and preventive actions, progress views, snagging lists
  • Recording all waiting and standby time, additional work outside contractual scope
  • Responsible for all On site GWS equipment (PPE, tools, cars etc.)
  • Providing HSEQ incident reports for GWS’ as well as client systems


Operational

  • Responsible for all HSEQ at site incl. monitoring and implementing relevant measures as well as
  • Daily coordination and supervision of the work execution. Responsible for all work to be completed in an organized way acc. to the contractual scope (time, finance and result)
  • Optimizing project execution and its’ methods
  • Responsible for compliance with applicable safety regulations, contract and other obligations throughout the project
  • Ensuring work on site towards the highest safety standards as described in GWS’ safety policies, procedures and instructions
  • Planning the on-site work
  • Performing daily site meetings (“toolbox talks”) before commencing the work; participating in toolbox and/ or safety meetings held by the customer
  • Performing final walk downs of turbines and hand over to the client’s site management
  • Initiating the necessary actions for improvements of health & safety, environment and quality
  • Ensuring that Safety & Quality performance remain on high level while his/ hers replacement or cover for home rotation (incl. written and verbal handovers as well and ensuring about professional attitude of interim towards scope of duties on site


People

  • Preparing employee assessments
  • Supporting and guiding the team leads on site, in regards to their administration, operational and people responsibilities
  • Responsible for the overall team performance on site

Your profile:


Technical skills

  • Technical knowledge on the specific wind turbine generator platform – familiarity with functions, construction from the bottom to the top, biggest challenges at various stages of installation


Leadership skills

  • Knowledge about motivational factors within teams and individuals
  • Ability to manage interpersonal conflicts on site
  • Understanding of the different personality types and various personal preferences in teams
  • Ability to foster an open, effective and respectful communication on the site
  • Capability to provide constructive feedback to individuals and teams
  • Ability to assign and delegate tasks to teams and individuals on site
  • Contractual understanding
  • Good communication skills to team and customer


Planning skills

  • Capability to plan the overall workload on site on a daily and weekly basis
  • Ability to brief and delegate planned tasks to site organization and team leads
  • Experience in executing tasks acc. to the plan
  • Ability to debrief the teams, know-how about capturing and sharing vital lessons learned, for the site and for GWS database


Additional skills

  • Basic IT knowledge (MS Office)
  • Language skills (fluency in English, incl. project slang)
  • Understanding of project management processes


Qualifications proved by certificates

  • Mechanical or Electrical background
  • Required wind industry trainings:
      • Global Wind Organisation BST
      • Electrical Awareness
      • Manufacturer-specific training
      • Lift User Training
  • Valid medical certificate – OEUK preferably
  • Driving license
  • Passport
  • Certificate of conduct
