Lena's Marketing internship Journey with Global Wind Service
Stepping from studies into a professional environment is where learning comes to life. For Lena Julius, a Marketing Management student at IBA Kolding, her three-month internship at Global Wind Service provided the opportunity to apply her knowledge in a global organisation.
During her time at the company’s head office in Fredericia, Lena contributed to communication activities and gained hands-on experience working across teams and projects.
Lena nominated her internship at Global Wind Service for the IBA Internship of the Year competition, where she was selected among the top 25 nominations, one of only two students highlighting internships at companies based in Fredericia.
What made you choose Global Wind Service for your internship?
What stood out was the level of trust and ownership given to interns. From the start, I was encouraged to take initiative and be part of real work, not just support from the sidelines.
I was also interested in gaining experience in an international company, and the team’s openness and willingness to share knowledge confirmed that this was the right place to learn and grow.
What are the most valuable skills you developed during your internship?
I gained a much clearer understanding of how marketing works in practice. It’s not just about ideas, it’s about making decisions, aligning different perspectives, and communicating clearly across teams.
Being given real responsibility helped me develop confidence and sharpen my judgement in a professional setting.
What challenged you the most during your internship?
Taking ownership of tasks was both the biggest challenge and the most valuable part of the experience. It required me to make decisions and stand by them.
At the same time, I always had support from the team, which made it possible to grow while feeling guided.
What was the most memorable part of your experience?
Contributing to projects that support the company’s external communication was especially rewarding. It’s motivating to see your work being used and to know that you’ve added real value.
I also really appreciated being included in company activities and getting to know colleagues across the organisation.
