Thursday last week, Global Wind Service (GWS) and team installed the second and final turbine SWT-6.0-154 turbines at Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) pilot project.
The project is the very first offshore projects ever installed in U.S. federal waters
“Our team has worked day and night over the last few days to reach this amazing milestone and I´m truly proud that we have been part of this historical project. The project is the very first offshore projects ever installed in U.S. federal waters. Big thank to everyone from GWS and our partners who have put a lot of dedication and effort getting the project safely over the finish line,” said Lars Petersen, Chief Commercial Officer at Global Wind Service.
The wind project is owned by American Utility Company Dominion Energy who contracted Ørsted Energy of Denmark with the construction. Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy awarded GWS the load-out and offshore installation of the project. CVOW is the first offshore wind project in U.S. Federal waters and only the second in the nation.
