Developer and owner Northland Power has awarded Global Wind Service (GWS) two installation projects in the state of New York, USA. It is the first time the two companies partner up directly.
Michael Nielsen, President US at Global Wind service says “It is not the first time we have worked on Northland Power projects, but it is the first time we partner up with them directly. We are very happy with this new partnership, and I am confident that it will be a long and fruitful one for both of us. Thus, we look forward to further support Northland Power in North America in the future.”
The two projects awarded are Bluestone in Broome County and Ball Hill in Chautauqua County. GWS is contracted to perform offload, pre-installation, main installation as well as mechanical installation at both sites.
- Bluestone will consist of 26 Vestas V150 turbines once complete. Works began on site in June and the teams are almost finished at this point.
- Ball Hill will consist of 22 Vestas V150 turbines as well as 3 Vestas V136 turbines. GWS has mobilized to site and ready for the first main components to arrive.
Bluestone and Ball Hill projects are contracted with NYSERDA, and once these projects are operational, they will accelerate progress towards New York’s Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act goal to obtain 70% of the State’s electricity from renewable sources by 2030.
