Global Wind Service (GWS) has become the very first company in Europe to install the new Chinese built Sinovel SL3000 3MW turbine. The site 35km North East of Karlstad in Central Sweden comprises of two turbines with a combined output of 6MW. The total height of the turbine is 150 metres with a rotor diameter of 113 metres. The two turbines will cost 84 million SEC and are expected to produce approximately 15 000 MWh /year, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of about 3000 households. The client company (CRC Vindkraft AB) operates out of Gothenburg and this installation is a significant milestone in the company’s history. After many years of hard work, it feels really good today to be able to see the first wind turbines in place, says CRC Vindkraft President Claes Bühler. The turbines themselves also represent the start of a new era for the European wind industry. Sinovel is the World’s second largest manufacturer of turbines and already has a strong track record for reliability across the globe. If all goes well and these turbines perform reliably, then we may well be seeing more Sinovel installations across Europe in the years to come which is great news for the industry and for GWS.
