The 50MW Wind Farm is located 15 kilometres off the coast, south of Aberdeen (Scotland) and comprises of five MHI Vestas V164 9.6MW Floating Wind Turbine Generators. It is the first V164 Platform Semi-submersible Floating Wind Farm in UK Waters and upon completion will be the worlds’ largest Offshore Floating Wind Farm to-date.

This is following successful pre-assembly and installation support by Global Wind Service to MHI Vestas Offshore Wind for 25MW WindFloat Atlantic Offshore Wind Farm during late 2019 / early 2020.

The worlds’ first V164 8.4MW Platform Offshore Floating Wind Farm and the worlds’ first semi-submersible floating Wind Farm, comprising of three Wind Turbine Generators. The WindFloat Atlantic turbines were assembled in Spain and towed to their current location off the coast of Portugal.
