Growth at Global Wind Service’s local branch in Taiwan

This, to support the growing demand for GWS’ services in the growing Taiwanese offshore market.

The Taiwanese Branch was officially established in September 2020, as part of GWS’ growth strategy. The market was picking up and so was the number of projects secured by GWS. Global Wind Service has been active in APAC since 2010 and in Taiwan since 2019, and the ambitions to develop and grow locally to secure further projects and build a local workforce has been clear since day one.

In the beginning, the branch office only employed two people, Branch Manager Hans Hansen and Commercial & Operations Manager Ryan Chen.  However, in less than a year after Ryan joining, the office now includes HR, Finance and Project Management functions as well. On top of this comes local wind turbine technicians, storekeepers managing the warehouse, site management team overseeing day-to-day operations at site ensuring all logistics demands are being fulfilled and finally an HSE Officer to supervise all works are done properly, safely and in compliance with client work instructions.

Just one year after being awarded Pre-Assembly for Greater Changhua, Ryan shows confidence in the results so far and the future; “We work continuously to keep expanding the local workforce for upcoming projects. Having a strong local set-up is key for us to maintain our great position for pre-installation and installation projects, as well as to support the operation and maintenance stage of offshore wind farms in Taiwan. We have a good local track record and look forward to continuing the growth in Taiwan, together with our clients – both local and international” Ryan said.

 

GWS branch office is located in the city centre of Taipei, only a 20-minute drive from the Songshan airport. GWS share facility with the existing Fred. Olsen Ocean branch office. In 2022 GWS opened a local warehouse in Taichung.
